*** URGENT - ATTENTION TO ALL MY DEXTER FRIENDS - HERD DISPERSAL - NEED TO STOP THEM FROM GOING TO AUCTION ON MONDAY, JUNE 29, 2026 ***

I have a Dexter friend who is being forced to take his small registered/registerable Dexter herd to the Willard, Utah auction on Monday, June 29, 2026. He has some hay still on hand in the event he needs to hold them for someone. THIS IS A QUALITY HERD! All are non-chondro, non-PHA carriers. He prefers to keep them all together if possible.

The drought in Wyoming and inability to find hay has forced him to sell out. He has seven (7) head of Dexters, with three (3) of them being calves from this year.

If you are one of the fortunate ones who has access to hay and you are able to take on seven (7) more Dexters, please call or text Sean Morgan at (307) 747-0244 IMMEDIATELY!

This is our Dorper Ram, Granja El Frio 389. We have dubbed him "Bart." They have all settled in nicely.

I just love it when Bart wags his tail when you greet him. It is so adorable. He obviously loves attention!

DORPER SHEEP - DID YOU KNOW...

Dorper sheep originated in the 1930s from crossing Dorset Horn rams — known for year-round breeding, strong muscle development, and fast growth — with Blackhead Persian ewes, a Somali breed valued for its heat and drought resistance and ability to thrive on sparse grazing. The goal was to create a breed that could withstand arid conditions and produce top-quality meat. The result was the Dorper, named by combining the first syllables of its parent breeds ("Dor" from Dorset and "Per" from Persian).

This genetic combination produced a medium-sized robust sheep that inherits the Dorset’s fertility and meat quality and the Persian’s resilience to dry climates. It thrives on limited forage, lambs often, and yields tender meat efficiently.

The goal was to develop a sheep that could improve meat production in Africa’s dry regions. European breeds didn’t thrive due to their wool and feeding needs, while native fat-tailed sheep matured slowly and yielded lean meat. The Dorper fills the gap, offering resilience, high productivity, low maintenance, and better meat quality.
