FUN FACT FRIDAY🥳

Repost from MotherRucker Carrying Consultancy

""Globally, as a species, we naturally carry our babies on our front, then on our hip and eventually on our backs as a piccy back."

All over the world, this is how people naturally carry their children in their arms. We are a carrying mammalian species, just like apes and monkeys, except we don't have fur for our babies and children to hold onto anymore.

Experts estimate that the first slings were invented over 50,000 years ago as it helped the hunter gatherer mother nurse her babies whilst also procuring food for herself. This is still true for us now in 2020, a sling keeps your baby close and content so you can get yourself some food."

Thank you to all who braved the cold and brought your little ones to our meetup at Coffee Shack yesterday! It was a pleasure to meet new faces and connect with some old ones. I'll be announcing March's weekend meetup date soon, so please keep a lookout for that!

If you have any suggestions on dates/times/locations, please let me know! I look forward to our future gatherings. And am really loving what these meetings are shaping up to be.❤️

Since we will be going over slings at our February meet-up next week, I thought I'd share this helpful article on sling safety! This article touches on some of the things we'll be going over at the meet-up, along with some great visuals!

As parents, one of our greatest priorities is to keep our children safe. A good, correctly fitting sling that protects airway can be a very helpful tool.

Happy mamas! Today's is focusing on self-love. Often times as caretakers, breadmakers, homemakers, we find that we give and give to our loved ones until our own cups are beyond empty. But you cannot pour from an empty cup.

When I find myself running on E, I tend to snap, to yell, to quickly become overwhelmed, I get depressed/anxious, and I feel like my life is slipping through my fingers. I know self-love is an important and vital part of my mental health as a parent. But where do we find the time for us when we barely feel like we have time for our children's day-to-day? Let alone the special fleeting moments that we're suppose catch and savor because they're gone oh-so-quickly?

Unfortunately, I still don't have the answer to finding that regular-occurring, magical, me-time to keep myself completely sane. But what I have found, are minutes. Minutes for a 5 minute walk around my house, blind to the mess and the laundry, focusing on my breath going in and out. Minutes for some light stretching, focusing on the way my arms stretch and tighten and feeling the strength in them that allows me to carry loads of laundry and tired little ones up the stairs. Minutes to listen to my favorite song and appreciate the melody that lightens my heart, that helps share a smile and the tune with a toddler tugging at my leg. You may not find time for that hour bubble bath you've been dreaming of or the time to finish your book that you've been trying to read since last year. But you have minutes mama, minutes to take a deep breath and remember you are still you and that your needs matter. Give yourself those minutes, because you are the only one who can give your children a happy mother who loves life. ❤️

Finally getting around to adding individual pictures of our Lending Library inventory! This beautiful neutral colored ringsling was generously donated by hopeandplum. Olympic is from their Fall/Winter 2019 release and is a linen/cotton blend. Whereas most slings will be measured as a double or single weight, their cotton/linen blends are closer to a 1.5 weight. Meaning that it’s not quite as beastly to work with as a double but not quite as floppy as a single. Making it a great choice for those with a medium impact lifestyle and perfect for both newborns and heavier babes up to 35lbs.
•
Simply Held has multiple options of ringslings in various weights, colors, fabrics, and lengths. Along with several other styles carriers! If your struggling to find the right carrier for you and your babe, that fits your needs and lifestyle, please reach out! We’d love to schedule a consultation and help strengthen the bond between you and your little one or to provide you with an additional helpful resource for the journey that is parenthood.❤️

I like to start off each week with a little "Momivational" (see what i did there👀 lol) Monday Mantra. Whether you're a stay-at-home-mama goddess, a working-mom warrior, a magnificent mix of both, or still working out the craziness of parenthood, we all need the daily (or hourly🙋‍♀️) reminder that we're doing our best and that no one can be better for our babies then we are.

Not everyday will be void of messes, there will be meltdowns (both you and the kiddos), you may not get out of your pajamas by dinnertime, you'll wonder if "chronically late" is just your schedule now, and you will wonder some nights if you're enough for this role you've been given. So today, let's tell ourselves "You Are Mom ENOUGH". Let's strive this week to remind ourselves of this and to repeat as many times as necessary until any doubt is completely erased. Say it until you fully and without a doubt believe it yourself.

Is there anything you need to reassure yourself of this week or do you have your own personal mantra to focus on? Please feel free to share, we're all on this journey together and it makes the long road easier when you know you're not traveling alone. ❤️
