We wanted to share this wonderful event in honor of Charlotte Frank, a Highland student that passed away after a brave battle with cancer.💜💜

Splash for a Cause, a pediatric cancer research fundraiser, will take place this Friday, August 21 at Adler Pool. Adler pool was one of Charlotte’s favorite places to hang out in the summer. 💜

We hope you can join!

Check out the upcoming kids’ Smart Cycling bicycle event at Highland Middle School on Saturday, May 30th. It’s a great way for kids to freshen up their bike handling skills and improve their cycling awareness as Summer starts!

Riders progress through a series of stations starting with proper helmet fit and how to check that a bike is safe to ride. They then move on to learning and practicing key bike handling skills, and culminate in learning situational awareness and what to look out for as a cyclist whether they’re still riding on sidewalks or venturing out onto residential side streets.

It typically takes 20-30 minutes to get through all the stations, and participants can start anytime between 9am and about 11:30am (we need to be done by noon). This course is ideally suited for older elementary and middle schoolers, though younger kids can work on their skills too.

We’re asking parents to preregister online at www.bikelibertyville.com to reduce paper and speed up the check-in process. Kids BYO bicycle and helmet. Parents are encouraged to watch.

Interested in Volunteering? The task is pretty easy - you and another volunteer(s) will be assigned a station, get a couple talking points, and focus on a couple key things for the kids to learn. Then the kids come through like an assembly line.

It’s a lot of fun and you don’t even need to be a cyclist yourself (though some experience is a bonus).

Please consider donating a few hours of your time to help kids safely enjoy the freedom and independence of riding a bike. Sign up at
