Debbie Lawrence is a speaker, American Sign Language communication trainer, Deaf Awareness advocate, curriculum developer, and founder of Easy Signing. Her work began through Signs of Baby, where she became known for providing lively, interactive, and professional sign language instruction for hearing parents, families, childcare professionals, and educators. She was an early leader in teaching infant and toddler signing as a practical communication tool that helps young children express their needs before they can speak. She was recognized as an American Sign Language trainer for the Program for Infant/Toddler Care and provided training through organizations such as the Minnesota Child Care Resource and Referral Network, the Greater Minnesota Day Care Association, Child Care Choices, and Resources for Child Caring. In 2003, she was invited to present at a MENSA conference, speaking before members of the internationally recognized organization for individuals whose IQ scores rank within the top two percent of the population. Her teaching experience includes working with Deaf and hearing children, adults, families, educators, businesses, churches, healthcare professionals, and community organizations throughout the United States and internationally. She has also served as an adjunct college instructor, teaching American Sign Language and early childhood development, and is an Achieve-Certified Professional Development Trainer. Today, through Easy Signing, Debbie provides customized American Sign Language, baby sign language, Deaf Awareness, and communication inclusion training. Her engaging teaching style combines clear instruction, storytelling, humor, facial expression, and real-life examples to make learning practical, memorable, and welcoming. Debbie’s mission is to help Deaf and hearing people open a window into each other’s worlds, build confidence, and create meaningful two-way communication. She is also the author of the upcoming book, Seeing With New Eyes.
