The Children's House of Libertyville Providing a nurturing and loving Montessori environment for infants to children 5 years old.

Since 1999, the school has embraced the Montessori curriculum and philosophy. Montessori Philosophy

Dr. Maria Montessori was, in many ways, ahead of her time. Born in 1870 in Ancona Italy, she became the first female physician by graduating from the University of Rome medical school in 1896. In her medical practice, clinical observations led her to analyze how children learn from what they find in their immediate environment. In 1907, she accepted the challenge to work with a group of sixty children of working parents in the slum section of San Lorenzo, Italy. It was there that she founded the first Casa dei Bambini, or "Children's House." What ultimately became the Montessori Method of education developed there, based upon Montessori's scientific observations of these children's almost effortless ability to absorb knowledge from their surroundings. Every piece of equipment, every exercise, every method Montessori developed was based on observing what children do "naturally", by themselves.

There is something special about gathering around the table. 🍎❤️

Sharing food, conversation, laughter, and time together helps our children build friendships and a true sense of community. Whether preparing a snack, passing a bowl, or simply sitting beside a friend, these everyday moments remind us that some of the most meaningful learning happens when we come together. 🌿

Our Infants, Toddlers and Two’s are learning through purposeful play and exploration. 🍂

In each classroom, children are building concentration, coordination, strengthening fine and gross motor skills, practicing independence, exploring language and making discoveries through hands-on experiences.

Inside and outside, our youngest learners are given the time and space to explore, repeat, practice and master new skills at their own pace. 🤎

Generations of Love ❤️

We had a beautiful afternoon celebrating Grandparents Day!
We loved welcoming so many grandparents and other special people into our school and watching our children proudly share a little piece of their world with them. 🍂

An email with the google album for all the amazing photos will be shared in the morning and please watch your child’s cubby for a gift by the end of the week!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon so special for the children. These are the moments and memories that mean so much to them. ❤️

Fall is beginning to make its way into our classrooms! 🍎🍂

From apple-themed counting and early literacy work to tracing, sorting, practical life activities, and plenty of hands-on exploration, our children are welcoming the new season through purposeful Montessori work.

We love watching those little hands stay busy and those growing minds build confidence, independence, and new skills each day. ❤️

Little hands, big work. 🌻

In our Toddler and Two’s classrooms, Montessori learning is happening in the most natural way—through purposeful, hands-on exploration.

Pouring, transferring, matching, sorting, manipulating objects, and choosing a favorite book may look like simple play, but each experience is carefully supporting concentration, coordination, problem-solving, language, and growing independence.

This is Montessori in the early years: beautiful, purposeful work designed for very busy little hands. ❤️
