From digital designs to 3D creations!

Seventh graders in Mr. Dolinko’s and Ms. Robin’s Applied Tech classes are using Tinkercad to design custom 3D models from scratch. Students are building their digital design skills, then seeing their ideas take shape with the help of a 3D printer.

It’s a hands-on look at how an idea on a screen can become something students can actually hold!

Learning about the world through the five senses! 👀👂

Kindergarteners in Mrs. Dorf’s class at Adler Park School explored the five senses during their CKLA Knowledge lesson. Through class discussions and interactive visuals, students made connections and shared how they use their senses every day to explore the world around them.

Rockland students stepped into the shoes of cartographers and fantasy authors during a creative library maker activity!

To explore the world of fantasy literature, students looked at stories featuring detailed land maps before setting out to design their own.

Students used coffee to give their paper an antique look (with a pro tip to use flavored coffee so the maps smelled amazing!) and grains of rice to help shape islands, coastlines, and uncharted kingdoms. Then, they brought their imaginative worlds to life with their own unique details.

One student even declared, “This is the best activity I have ever done in school!”

What a fun way to bring reading, creativity, and hands-on learning together in the library!

Bulldog Buddies in action! 🐾

Students in Mrs. Taylor’s fourth-grade class and Mrs. Hogan’s first-grade class teamed up for a fun Bulldog Buddy session! Buddies interviewed one another, shared fun facts, and discovered all the things they have in common.

It was great to see our older students serving as role models and helping build connections across grade levels!

Bringing History to Life!

Libertyville fourth-graders made an unforgettable history-and-science connection when the RILEE (Rotary Iron Lung Educational Exhibit) trailer stopped by! After reading about a young girl who survived polio during their CKLA personal narratives unit, students got to see an iron lung up close and learn more about the disease's history.

A huge thank you to the Libertyville Sunrise Rotary for providing this incredible learning opportunity and for their continued dedication to eliminating polio worldwide. We also extend a special thanks to Mr. Glenn Garlick for sharing his time and knowledge with all of our fourth-grade students across each school!

Learning the treble clef, one note at a time!

Fifth-graders in Mrs. Deal’s class joined music teacher Mr. Weppler for an interactive lesson on treble clef notation. Using creative parody songs, students practiced recognizing notes while singing along, reinforcing key music concepts in a fun, memorable way.

Our Little Sprouts in Mrs. Sewell’s class learned all about the Super Readers program at Cook Memorial Public Library and the many fun ways they can continue exploring books and reading beyond the classroom.

Democracy in action in second grade!

Students in Ms. Davellis’s second-grade class at Butterfield voted to choose their next class read-aloud. It was a close race among several favorites, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The BFG, but Bob ultimately came out on top!

Now that the votes are counted, these second-graders are ready to dive into their winning pick!
