Clementine Early Childhood Community

It was our biggest summer ever!: 71 kids, 24 classes…every single one full, along with my heart.

Today, post one of seven (!) during this off-week to showcase it all.

Spotlight on practical life...you know it's my favorite!

Practical life allows kids to develop (practical!) skills as they do everything from scrubbing tables to watering plants, arranging flowers to making snacks and setting the table.

When there's a spill, we mop! Art to hang? Ask a preschooler! Earliest walkers love the swiffer. 🧡

Practical life is all of this--but also, it's bringing kids into the life of the classroom and your home. It builds their independence, coordination, and confidence--and seeing what your kids can do in the classroom opens *your* mind to all that they're capable of, too.

I purposely hide first-day registration progress until class is over because I want to be present instead of distracted. Then after class (and bonus sibling dishwashing), basement cleanout, life stuff, and yoga at the beach—imagine my surprise when I finally checked!

I continually pinch myself when I think about how I get to do the work that I do with all of you. I never take it for granted!

Fall session registration opens to email list families this Wednesday, 8/12 at 8:00a and to everyone on Thursday, 8/13 at 8:00a!

It’s our last week of the summer session!

Classes are full, but join us for one or both of these events:

> Hoping for good weather for our afternoon park meetup! | Monday, 8/10, 3:45p-5:15p (drop in, watch stories if the weather is iffy!)

> Our second Crafting evening…I’ve got a fun one for us to try together, or bring your own…or just come for snacks and chatting...we always have great conversations! | Tuesday, 8/11, 5:00p-7:00p (register, then drop in; this event is adults-only)

We finished our summer infant class with some deep chats:

> I’m consistently amazed at the thoughtful reflection that comes out of our classes, and today was the cherry on top. I feel like I was in a haze for a good long time when my babies were young, but then again as I always say—my own wish for this kind of space, where I could talk through my experiences with people who really get it, is where Clementine came from!

> The babies had their own little wavelength going on: looking at and for each other, all the sounds, just delightful.

It’s always bittersweet when this group wraps up, but fall crawler awaits, and I’ll get to meet the newest 🍊 babies then as well!

Peak night out: stand-up paddleboarding at the lake! We have a few spots open if you’d like to join us for a sunset paddle on beautiful Diamond Lake. | Tuesday, 8/4, 6:45-8:15 (register)

> Join us at the Libertyville Farmer’s Market in Cook Park…all the fruit, veggies, flowers, & treats, plus puppies & kittens to visit, outdoor storytime at 10:00a, and playground time. Stop by our pop-up mini-classroom on the hour, then meet up with other families to walk the market! | Thursday, 8/6, 7:00a-1:00p (drop in)
