At the heart of Grassroots Education is our individually paced curriculum, where each child progresses through core K-5 competencies at their own natural pace. With low student-teacher ratios, students can engage in meaningful hands-on learning and move forward when they demonstrate true mastery — not according to a fixed timeline.

Through inquiry, critical reasoning, and creative expression, children build deep conceptual understanding while developing independence and confidence. Our curriculum aligns with Missouri DESE Learning Standards, giving students strong academic foundations without the pressure of grade-level expectations.

The result is capable, self-directed learners who truly own their education and develop a genuine love of learning.

🌱Our classroom money tree officially has a name!🌱

Today, the kiddos decided they wanted to name our money tree plant. Each child came up with a name idea, and then we voted to choose our favorite using tally marks.

What started as a fun, child-led activity turned into a great learning opportunity! The students practiced making tally marks, counting votes, comparing numbers, and gathering information to make a decision as a group.

They also help care for our money tree by watering it, which builds responsibility and independence through practical life experiences.

One of my favorite things about Montessori-inspired learning is how naturally lessons grow from the children’s interests. 💚🌿
