Discovery Middle School Bluejays

Orientation is August 11th & 12th from 9AM–5PM. Students can receive schedules, take yearbook photos, tour the building, find lockers, put money on lunch accounts, get bus fobs from transportation, sign up for PTSA, check in with the nurse, and more!

We want to welcome Olivia Daley to the DMS office staff as our new Innovation and Learning Coach. Though Ms. Daley is not a stranger to DMS, she is excited to continue serving the DMS community in this new role!

We would like to welcome Chrissy Nutter to the DMS staff as a science teacher for this upcoming school year. Here's a brief introduction from her. We are excited to have her on our staff!

Hello! My name is Chrissy Nutter, and I’m excited to be joining Discovery Middle School as a 6th and 7th grade science teacher! I bring over 24 years of teaching experience and love creating hands-on, engaging lessons that spark curiosity and make science fun. Building strong relationships with students while maintaining high expectations has always been at the heart of my classroom. Outside of school, my husband and I have four children, ages 24, 19, 17, and 8. I enjoy reading, sharing educational and lifestyle content on social media, and spending time with my family. I can’t wait to meet my students and become part of the Bluejay family!

My name is Aidan Manns, and I am delighted to introduce myself as a new 7th and 8th-grade math teacher next year. I graduated from Park University in May with a degree in secondary math education. As an alumni of Discovery Middle School, I am especially excited to return and contribute to the community that has given me so much. In my free time, you can often find me gardening or walking my dog. Go Jays!

Hello! My name is Maggie Quinn and I am thrilled to join the Discovery Middle School team as an 8th-grade ELA teacher! I graduated from UMKC with my teaching degree in 2023 and am a proud alumni of the Institute for Urban Education. I have spent three years teaching 3rd grade at Academy for Integrated Arts in Kansas City. I also serve as a part-time travel coach with LHS Speech and Debate. As a proud Liberty Public Schools graduate, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return to the district and cannot wait to build relationships, share the joys of reading and writing, and support students this year!
