Liberty Middle School Blue Jays

The Liberty Middle School Admin team is hard at work preparing for the 2026/2027 school year with all of the other LPS administrators. We had a fantastic principal’s retreat! This year feels like it’s going to be built different. Stay tuned.

Liberty Hospital primary care clinics will be offering sport physicals.

1. Liberty Hospital primary care clinics will be offering sport physicals for $35.00. These will now be offered year-round. APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED – please call the clinic of your choice to schedule.

2. Sport physical nights on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, and Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Liberty Hospital Sports Medicine, 398 N Blue Jay Drive, Liberty MO, from 6-9 pm. There will be no charge for the physicals either night, but there are a limited number of spots available.

THERE WILL BE A SEPARATE EMAIL WITH THE LINK FOR ATHLETES TO SIGN UP ELECTRONICALLY TO ATTEND coming from your home school. Please be aware that availability for this event will be limited so please encourage your athletes/families to sign up early.

Appointments will be by online sign-up only. NO WALK INS will be allowed to attend.
Due to limited availability, this event is for students that are going into 7th-12th grades and will be participating in school related activities for the 2026-2027 school year. • There will be 15-minute time slots - you must attend your scheduled time slot.

Please bring your own copy of the physical with the medical history completed and signed. You will not be allowed to start until the medical history is completed. If an athlete under the age of 18 is not accompanied by a parent/guardian, the parent/guardian signature MUST be present at the end of the medical history.

Liberty Hospital Sports Medicine will be retaining pages 1-4 (the medical history) per MSHSAA guidelines. Page 5, the medical eligibility page, is all that is required to be turned into the schools. Blue Jay Camps Blue Jay Camps are held at Liberty High School in Liberty, Missouri. Blue Jay Camps are led by the Liberty High School coaching staffs.

Congratulations to Dr. Bright and our LMS library team! Tonight she was recognized by our Liberty BOE for her state level award. She was 1 of 12 librarians in Missouri to receive recognition (along with SVMS).

Hard Hat: Mrs. LaPlant to Mrs. Kantola
I’d like to pass the hard hat on to Shirley Kantola. Shirley came into this year thinking it would be her first year of retirement, but instead stepped in to help fill a science position—and she has been amazing in this role. I consistently see her working with Cory to ensure her lessons are both engaging and rich in content. Shirley is committed to learning herself while making sure her students are learning right alongside her.

Not only is it clear that Shirley is dedicated to the content, but it’s also been impressive to see how she’s balanced being back in the classroom while stepping away from the administrator role. She continues to build strong relationships with her students in her classroom. Transitioning from an admin role back to teaching probably isn’t easy, but Shirley has made it look seamless. I’ve really enjoyed working alongside the “teacher version” of Shirley.

Congratulations to Dr. Garrett Niemeier for successfully defending his capstone project and graduating this weekend with his Educational Doctorate!
