I had a first today in ALL the years I’ve been coaching. We had to forfeit our first game. We won it easily, but Texas United and Play3MTsports decided to change the rules DURING the tournament and AFTER the game.
Here is the scenario. We entered into the High School division for this weekend and my oldest daughter decided she wanted to play with us. I entered my roster online, put in her birthday and it was accepted no problem. On the Play3MT website it defines a High School eligible player as anyone born after 9/1/2004(See pic from there website below). Reese was born a month after that in October of 2004. All good right?
Wrong
Sam Khabbaz (which if you know him, first I’m sorry, second you’ll understand this better) protested the game because he didn’t believe Reese should be allowed to play. Mind you she didn’t pitch, or it probably would have been worse.
After talking with the TD and the UIC. It was decided that they wanted ONLY girls actually in HIGH School. According to their website, she was eligible, no where was this stated. So I said fine she won’t play the rest of the tourney but don’t forfeit that game because of your misinformation. All info given she was eligible, she is eligible in all other sanctioning bodies that we will play this fall.
Nope, forfeit stood. So I argued again, by that statement no 8th graders should be allowed to play either (there was a 14U team playing up).
Once again, Nope, the girls can play up “they can’t play down”. HOW IS SHE PLAYING DOWN? For crying out loud she isn’t in the pros! She is an 18U player under every other sanctioning body EXCEPT Play3MT, WAIT……according to their own website she is too.
Someone needs to explain this to me. When did this game stop being focused on the girls?
We will NEVER play with this group again, and I wouldn’t ever recommend them to anyone.
Reese wanted to play with her friends, she wanted to get help from me because she feels like she is struggling with the game (even though she isn’t).
Congratulations Sam Khabbaz on your forced forfeit. I hope you feel proud. And yes my team heard you in the parking lot talking about how “if you brought back your older girls you’d win too”. Reese DIDN’T PITCH! We played your older girls, you couldn’t win against Reese then, and I highly doubt you would now.
Onto the next. I’m putting it in my rear view mirror and my team will keep moving forward.
