Shining a spotlight on one of Seymour Rogers Middle School’s very own—Mr. Morgan! 🌟

Originally hailing from Oregon, Mr. Morgan earned his degree from Bemidji State University and completed his ESOL endorsement at Newman University. With 9 of his 12 years in education dedicated right here to our district, he serves as a cornerstone of our school community—not only in the classroom, but also as the Director of the Apache Advantage After-School Program! 🎓🏆

Yesterday in class, his 7th graders collaborated to build their class Social Contract, using the core words GROWTH and MINDSET to set the tone for respect, teamwork, and success this year. 💡✨

🧊 Building Big Ideas in Makerspace! 📦

Mrs. Gonzalez’s 4th-grade class headed to Makerspace with Miss Cummins for a hands-on STEM lesson! Working in teams, students put their engineering and problem-solving skills to the test as they designed and constructed cardboard igloos.

🚧 Two-lane sections of Western Avenue will be closed beginning Monday, August 24, 2026 from the railroad tracks near Pancake Blvd. to 15th Street in Liberal. Construction contractors will be repaving Western Avenue. During this time, reasonable access to homes, businesses, and schools will be maintained. This work is expected to be completed within two weeks.

🚌 Two CityBus pickup locations will be moved during construction on Western Avenue. The Western & 7th Street location on Western Avenue at Blue Bonnet Park will move to a pickup location on 7th Street. This change affects the Red Route :19 and Orange Route :33 stops. The Western & 2nd Street location on Western Avenue across from Liberal High School will move to a pickup location in the parking lot on the Southeast corner of the intersection. This change affects the Red Route :17 stop.

Whether mastering new vocabulary, mapping out world geography, or engaging in interactive lessons, students in the Liberal High School foreign language department are gaining valuable cultural and communication skills! 🌎✍️

Led by Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. Rivera, and Mrs. Riemann, the team shares teaching duties to offer a comprehensive curriculum covering multiple levels of both Spanish and French. Through collaborative classroom projects, digital resources, and hands-on practice, these courses empower LHS students to become global citizens and confident communicators.
