Our Diesel Tech students hit the road recently for an eye-opening tour of the biodiesel industry. Led by instructors Mike and John, the crew headed out to visit the pros at Seaboard Energy in Guymon and Arkalon (Conestoga) near Liberal.

The highlight of the trip? Seeing the big-picture version of what they do right here on campus. Our students were able to see exactly how the soybean-based fuel they produce in our own SCCC lab (Thanks to the Kansas Soybean Commission) can be applied to the large-scale processes at these massive facilities. A huge thanks to Seaboard and Arkalon for hosting us and showing our future diesel techs that the green energy they're mastering in the shop is the same power fueling the nation!

Yesterday, the biodiesel student workers and diesel tech students toured the Seaboard Biodiesel plant in Guymon and the Conestoga Biodiesel plant in Liberal. Both the students and instructors were able to learn a lot from the experience and see the process firsthand. A big thank you to the Soybean Commission for making this possible as part of the research-funded biodiesel project here at SCCC.
