Interested in working in forest management in Appalachia? Check out this great training opportunity from our friends at Appalachian Carbon Exchange and Coalfield Development!
As a part of ACE's mission and through funding awarded to us from the USFS, Appalachian Carbon Exchange is investing in Appalachian people and Appalachian forests—creating accessible pathways into forestry careers while building the skilled workforce our region needs for the future. That being said: Kentucky friends help us spread the word that registration for our upcoming forestry workforce training in Rowan County is open! This training is of no cost to participants and participants will be paid to participate. Trainees will receive industry recognized certifications, hands-on job training, and wraparound support.
TRAINING AREAS INCLUDE:
👨🚒 Wildland Fire Management Training with field components
🌿 Commercial Herbicide/Pesticide License
🌳 Forestry Worker Certification
👨⚕️ First Aid and CPR
🚧 Chainsaw Safety
👷♂️ OSHA 10
💻Northstar Digital Literacy
ACE is partnering with Coalfield Development to provide a lower barrier to entry into forestry fields. Needed devices, equipment, and PPE will be provided. Trainees will be connected with potential employers and further educational opportunities at the end of the training. This course is designed to open you up to a variety of different job opportunities including:
🍃 Utility vegetation management & right-of-way clearing crews
🔥 Wildland fire and prescribed fire crews
🌲 Forestry technicians & forest management crews
🦌 Wildlife and habitat management technicians
🌄Groundskeeping, parks & land maintenance
🏗 General industry, construction & environmental field work
📋 Independent forestry & land management contracting
🗓This training will begin October 5 and end November 13th with the job fair. The training is 5 days a week from 9am to 3pm in Morehead, Kentucky on Morehead State University’s campus.
