We are sad to say goodbye to one of our beloved classmates, David Mathias. His goodness will always be remembered. Prayers for his family.

David James Mathias, Jr. COLUMBIA - David James Mathias, Jr., 67, of Columbia, SC. died Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Born July 15, 1948 he was the beloved husband of Margaret Young Mathias and the beloved son of the late, Margaret Covil Mathias and David James Mathias, Sr. David was a 1966 graduate of Eau Claire High School and attended USC. He was retired from Mathias Sandwich Shop, a family business, started by his father. He loved the sandwich business so much. He loved the USC Gamecock's and enjoyed watching all the games. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren very much and loved for his Yorkie "Harley" to sit in his lap. But most of all he loved the Lord. David is survived by his wife, Margaret Young Mathias; sons, David J. Mathias, III (Amber), Brandon Young Mathias, Jr. (Cindy), daughter, Tara Mathias Miner, (John); five grandchildren; Cameron Mathias, Brandon Mathias, Jr; Samuel Miner, Sarah Grace Miner and Ruthann Miner; brothers, Sammie Mathias (Lisa), Willie Mathias (Bonnie) and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Mathias Boland. Funeral services for David will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Dunbar Funeral Home Dutch Fork Chapel in Irmo, SC with interment in Bush River Memorial Garden. The Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Columbia Crossroads Church, 2723 Ashland Rd. Columbia, SC 29210.
