So called "Paycheck Protection" (Senate Bill 6) is about to be heard in committee. If made law, this would require unions to get yearly permission writt n permission from every member in order to do automatic dues payments from their checks.

How is this anything other than a direct attack on unions ability to fund themselves? Why should the government have the right to require union members to sign up yearly for something they have voluntarily agreed to?

SB6 is also marked as an emergency bill. While the state faces massive pension and budgetary problems, the legislation feels that harming unions and their members is the true emergency.
