Students are still reading, writing, reviewing skills, practicing comprehension, and learning all day long...

but now it feels exciting and memorable.

Add simple snacks.

Beach towels.
Glow sticks.
Paper airplanes.
Potato pets.

And suddenly learning becomes an event.

The best part?

This is a growing bundle.

New theme days are being added, including School Supplies Boot Camp coming this week!

Reading comprehension is so much more than answering questions at the end of a story.

Students need opportunities to think about what they're reading.

Talk about it.
Make connections.
Analyze characters.
Identify theme.
Explore cause and effect.
Study point of view.

And then apply their learning in a meaningful way.

That's why I love these Reading Strategy Crafts.

Instead of completing another worksheet, students create a hands-on project that helps them organize their thinking and show what they've learned.

The best part?

These crafts work with your favorite read alouds.

Use them with books you're already reading and turn comprehension lessons into something students will actually remember.

Some of my favorite classroom memories started with a read aloud.

A story.

A discussion.

A lesson students connected with.

And then a hands-on activity that helped the learning stick.

These interactive read aloud units pair meaningful books with engaging lessons, crafts, writing activities, and discussions that students actually remember.

Students practice skills like:

Character traits
Making connections
Growth mindset
Building classroom community
Celebrating similarities and differences

The best part?

The lessons go far beyond reading comprehension.

They help build the kind of classroom culture every teacher wants at the beginning of the year.

I love using escape rooms to review ELA skills...

because students don't feel like they're reviewing.

They become detectives.

They work together.

They solve clues.

They eliminate suspects.

And suddenly they're completely invested in finding the culprit.

Meanwhile, they're practicing:

Phonics
Grammar
Vocabulary
Reading comprehension
Critical thinking

It's one of my favorite ways to keep review engaging without hearing, "Do we have to do another worksheet?"

And if you want to make it even more fun...

celebrate with popsicles after the mystery is solved.

If your students are struggling to read...

you might need to go back to the basics.

Not worksheets.

Not guessing.

Just explicit phonics instruction and lots of practice.

Students start with reading words.

Then nonsense words.

Then sentences.

Then stories.

The goal isn't just learning a phonics pattern.

It's building accuracy, automaticity, and confidence.

Because when students can decode with ease, reading becomes so much less frustrating.

I love these interactive notebook pages because students get repeated practice with the skill while building phonics and fluency at the same time.

Perfect for:

* Whole group lessons
* Small groups
* Intervention
* Centers
* Extra practice

Today's deal is just $2!

If you've been curious about my Phonics Interactive Notebook, this is a great chance to give it a try.

One of the most important things we teach at the beginning of the year has nothing to do with reading or math.

It's teaching students that they can do hard things.

Not yet becomes one of the most powerful phrases in the classroom.

"I can't read that book... yet."

"I can't tie my shoes... yet."

"I can't solve that problem... yet."

I love pairing this lesson with a simple Magical Yet Potion.

Students talk about goals, challenges, perseverance, bravery, and all the things they're still learning to do.

Add a little cotton candy and some sprinkles...

and suddenly a growth mindset lesson becomes something they'll remember long after the first week of school.

Because every student needs the reminder that learning takes practice, mistakes are part of the process, and they are capable of more than they think.

Today it's just $2 for !

Reading comprehension becomes a whole lot more fun when students are learning about things they already love.

Ice cream.
Pizza.
Bubbles.
Animals that glow.

Students read a short nonfiction passage, answer questions, and then go back into the text to PROVE their answers.

Want to make it even more memorable?

Read about bubbles... then go outside and blow some.

Read about ice cream... then enjoy a sweet treat.

Read about animals that glow... then turn off the lights and grab a few glow sticks.

Suddenly, reading comprehension feels a lot less like a worksheet and a lot more like an experience.

Perfect for end-of-the-year review, summer learning, or anytime students need a little extra engagement.

Comment "ice cream" or "bubbles" or "glow" or "pizza" and I'll send you the link.

One of my favorite first week activities is Classroom Family Pudding.

Students read Our Class is a Family,
talk about what makes a strong classroom community,
then create a fun pudding snack together

The pudding reminds us we stick together
sprinkles show how our differences make us unique
Nerds remind us it’s okay to make mistakes while learning
and gummy bears remind us we always have each other’s backs

Simple.
Memorable.
And such an easy way to start building classroom community from day one.

Because the first week of school isn’t just about routines…
it’s about creating a classroom students feel safe and excited to walk into.

Becoming a fluent reader takes SO MUCH PRACTICE...
and partner reading just works!

Students grab a partner
start reading right away
and practice the exact phonics pattern we’ve been working on.

They highlight the focus pattern
take turns reading each part
answer questions
and reread for fluency.

It’s structured
it’s purposeful
and it keeps everyone engaged.

Perfect for centers, small groups, independent partner work, or summer practice

Comment "partner reading" and I’ll send you the link.
