APO is a national Service Fraternity founded upon leadership, friendship, and service.

A Letter from Your President - Alpha Phi Omega 06/04/2020

Brothers,

With the recent protests that have been happening across the country and the world, we wanted to express our support for the Black community. The members of the Alpha Beta Tau chapter stand in solidarity with the Black community in their fight against the various injustices and systemic racism that they experience. We condemn and denounce white supremacy, racism, brutality, hate, violence, and bigotry.

Alpha Phi Omega was founded to help college students make a positive difference on their campuses and in their communities through service to others. But service is not limited to the academic calendar. In fact, it matters just as much when we’re not in school. When we were initiated, we pledged to help our communities through service. Now, more than ever, we need to support the Black community and reaffirm that Black lives matter.

We are part of the world’s largest Greek-letter organization. We are able to make a difference through our service and leadership. You can find meaningful ways to help the Black community by educating yourself on the matter, listening to Black voices, raising awareness about the issues, and donating what you can (whether that is time, effort, or money). If you want to find more resources on the various ways you can help, you can go to this website (https://blacklivesmatter.carrd.co/) for more information.

We want to echo our National President Robert M. Coop's words (https://apo.org/a-letter-from-your-president/, who said it best:

“While we cannot change the past, we can work to change tomorrow by being a positive force in our communities. The world is calling out for leadership, friendship, and service and all of us in Alpha Phi Omega have a role to play.”

Yours in Leadership, Friendship, and Service,

Alpha Beta Tau Chapter

Name: Angela Delos Reyes '20
Pledge Class: Winter 2017
What Angela likes the most about APO: the freedom that it gives us to create and lead our own service projects. APO Members are able to follow what they are passionate about and Brothers will support each other in any way they can.
Other extracurriculars Angela is involved in: multicultural organizations on campus like PAACE, SAIL, and MSA because Angela believes that their activities are effective on sharing and teaching on cultures from around the world. They also give her the opportunity to share her Filipino culture to W&L.
Fun facts about Angela: She was born in Sasebo, Japan and she has a birthmark from her left calf to the bottom of her foot.
