Every year over 1 billion pounds of pumpkin are sent to landfills in the US. How can we ensure some of those jack o lanterns skip the landfill this year?
Compost!
For students and staff who have pumpkins *on campus* and would like to compost them, we are offering open pumpkin drop off at the W&L compost facility from 3-5pm, now through November 15. Please drop off your pumpkin on the concrete pad at the compost facility (follow the dirt road past the baseball field to access compost facility).
We accept whole and carved pumpkins. If you used paint for your pumpkin, please wash it off before drop off. If the paint is not removed, we cannot accept the pumpkin. Due to our permitting, we also cannot accept pumpkins from off campus sites.
