What a wonderful day celebrating our kids and bringing our school community together! We had an absolute blast with all the games, activities, smiles, and memories made throughout the day.

A huge THANK YOU to all of the amazing businesses and community supporters listed at the end of these pictures. Your generous donations helped make Kentucky Kids Day possible, and we are incredibly grateful for your support of our students and our school! We couldn’t have done it without you.

We also want to give a special thank you to GymCore, What the Foam and Henry Clay High School Cheerleaders for donating their time to help make the day possible. Your generosity and support mean so much to our school community!

And we want to give a very special shoutout to Nicole Gwishiri, our PTA Vice President of Programs! Nicole poured so much time, energy, creativity, and heart into making this event happen. From all the planning and behind the scenes work to making sure everything came together- she went above and beyond for our kids. We are so thankful for everything she did to make the day such a success!

Good morning all! We wanted to share a few quick updates with you - most importantly, we are having our second PTA meeting of the year on Monday evening (9/21) at 6 pm in the library. Good morning DME families and supporters! Today is our favorite day - Kentucky Kids Day!! We have so many wonderful volunteers who are coming together to make this day possible! We do still need a couple of volunteers to help with w**ding and mulching the front garden tomorrow morning if anyone is available ☀️ if interested, please use the link in the post below to let us know you’re coming.

Today is also the last day of our membership drive - we would love to have you sign up for the PTA! One of our goals this year is to expand membership and family engagement so that we can hear more family voices and experiences to truly advocate for EVERY child to reach their full potential!

Hello DME families, friends, and supporters! The DME PTA is so excited to have several opportunities for volunteers in the month of September! We can’t wait to see the difference we can all make for our school community 🤍

Up first, we still need a few different volunteers for our big student celebration day - Kentucky Kids Day ✨ There are still opportunities to volunteer in school through decorating and cotton candy making on 9/17, clean up help in the afternoon on 9/18, and through donations of cotton candy supplies. Don’t forget that you will need to complete the FCPS background check to volunteer in the building! If you’re interested in any of these, please use the link below to sign up. Immediately following Kentucky Kids Day, we are looking for volunteers to help w**d and mulch the front landscaping at DME. Many hands make light work, and we are hoping to get at least 6 adults to come out and help our fearless leader Ms. Phillips! If you’re interested, please use the following link to sign up - the more the merrier! This will be Saturday 9/19 from approximately 9-11 am.

Finally, we need a couple of volunteers to help our staff appreciation cart on 9/11 and 9/25. These will circulate in the mornings for a little breakfast treat for our awesome staff! If you’re interested in helping, we need one parent each day to help prep the cart and make the rounds starting at 7:45 am. It usually takes anywhere from 1-2 hours to get to all of the available staff members. You can sign up below if you’re available and interested!

Hello, DME families! We’re so excited to kick off our fall PTA membership drive — and we have a few fun prizes up for grabs this year!

✨ For our students - The two grade levels with the most registered PTA members by September 25 will earn a Pajama Day for their entire complex!

We’ll also be randomly selecting a member family to receive a gift card to Halo Salt Room and one family to receive a wonderful gift bag from Wildlings Bookshop. 📚

At its heart, PTA is an advocacy organization with a mission to make every child’s potential a reality. Here at DME, your membership helps us support experiences for our students, staff, and families — from student appreciation days and family engagement events to special traditions like Arts Day, Multicultural Night, and so much more. We would love to include as many people as possible in the community that makes our mission come to life!

PTA membership is for everyone. Moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, family friends, community members, local businesses — anyone who cares about our students is welcome to join.

Joining PTA does not mean you’re committing to attend meetings, volunteer at events, or take on another responsibility. Your membership alone supports our school. If you do want to get more involved, we would love to have you — whether that means helping once a year, sharing an idea, attending a meeting, or volunteering when it works for your family.
