After a long day of contests, these four girls spent the night at Tri-Valley High School at the Section 9 LTS. LTS gave them an opportunity to watch the section team in action, hear a keynote from Illinois FFA State Reporter Haven Cash, and work on leadership skills that section officers led them through. Hope, Aubrey, and Addison had a great time working with members from other schools while Jozee spent her time with all of the other greenhands, or first year members, who were led through activities by Haven and visiting Section Presidents.
We can’t wait to see the skills they learned show up in Lexington FFA!

Wednesday was indeed a busy day!! In addition to the land usage competition, we also had 3 members competed with Job Interview. Micah, Jared, and Aubrey all worked hard on completing job descriptions, resumes, and cover letters, and then showed up to complete an application, phone interview, in person interview, and follow up letter.

These members worked through hard times and showed up. They put in the work and we are proud of how they competed!

What a gorgeous day to be outside and doing some land usage evaluations! We had 13 members attend the Section 9 land usage CDE today at the ISU farm.

Members had the opportunity to judge 4 pits on quality, texture, color, slope, and more. They had a great time climbing into the pits and putting their classroom knowledge on show.

We are proud to announce to following results:
Team:
1st Place overall 🏆
Individuals:
Camden McCue-1st Place Overall 🥇
Micah Wiltz-5th Place Overall 🏅
Jack Miller-6th Place Overall 🏅
Jared Roe-7th Place Overall 🏅

Congratulations to the team on their great finish! A shoutout to the other members who spent their day out there and also did phenomenal, all scoring very high and close together!

Other members included:
Chloe Morgan, Max Peacock, Ethan Payne, Brady Hopwood, Martin Pearce, Brody Knight, Greyson Leake, Blake Stutzman, and Hudson McClure.
Many of these members studied on top of their regular classes and activities and posted some very good scores, proving their dedication!

We’re a tad late, and the seasons have definitely changed, but we wanted to make sure we highlight our members that spent some time at the Illinois State Fair exhibiting their animals.

Addison & Hattie Young, along with their younger sisters spent time in the show ring with their Herefords. They won a few classes and were even named as Premier Herdsman for Hereford. The highlight was that Ms. Clark was at the fair to help with the Sunflower Showmanship contest and was able to watch the girls while they were showing.

Brynlee Nolan had her 2 Brown Swiss heifers down in Springfield. She did well with Josie and Jamaica as well as in the dairy judging contest.

Adelyn Earing had her fun in the sheep show ring. She also competed in the livestock skillathon, placing third in the junior division!

Darci Allen spent her time showing rabbits! She competed well and looks forward to improving each year.

We think that all of our members who spend everyday caring for livestock or to crops truly learn so much more than just a standard classroom can offer. Congratulations to these kids and a few more who showcased their hard work, became better individuals, and represented our chapter, school, and community well.

Happy homecoming from Lexington FFA!

Even with some rain, some of our members pushed through and had a great time in the Homecoming parade this afternoon! Lexington FFA alumni Preston Wiltz drove a decorated tractor with our members carrying the American flag and passing out temporary tattoos. We always love being able to be showcase our students, their talents, and of course, agriculture.
We can’t wait for the game this evening and the dance tomorrow night!

Yesterday 10 of our students headed to Heartland Community College for their Ag Immersion Day. These students got to participate in different stations to learn about agriculture, like drones, welding, plant propagation, and artificial insemination. After lunch they got to attend a college and career fair where they got to explore different career paths, climb into different vehicles, like a Rivian, and talk to businesses.

These students had a great time learning and growing their skills!
