HEAT STRESS MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP
June 9, 2026
9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Spindletop Hall - Manion Suite 3414 Iron Work Pike,
Join us for a workshop led by Dr. Thomas Bernard of the Sunshine Education and Research Center, a NIOSH-funded center in Florida. This session will introduce a practical template for a written Heat Stress Management Plan that aligns with:
OSHA’s draft heat stress rule NIOSH best practices ACGIH guidelines
Who Should Attend: Health and safety representatives; or consultants who help clients develop heat stress management plans.
Why Attend?
This hands-on workshop is designed to help employers and consultants prepare a written heat stress management plan to protect the workforce during exposures to heat stress. The workshop is divided into two 2-h modules. The first module walks attendees through the essentials of a heat stress management plan. The emphasis is on the rationale for the written plan components and the recognition of and first aid for heat-related illness. The second 2-h module extends the planning kit with methods to estimate metabolic rate to better tune the exposure limits described in the first module and to explore more interventions in the context of engineering controls, administrative controls, personal protection, and personal monitoring.
REGISTER by May 25th, 2026.
Registration capped at 20 people.
A complementary lunch will be provided.
