Do we have creative members who would like to enter their project(s) in the South Carolina State Fair? We're kind of in a time crunch as the Fair cuts off registrations on September 1st, but if we know you've got your entry or will have it completed by the time I enter everything in the fair, you're good.
ALSO! Does anyone know anything about Articulture? The Fair is running an "America 250 Seed Articulture Contest" and this thing looks like a lot of fun. I've got all the rules and regs but in a nutshell you're making an art piece that can be hung and it must be 100% natural. Such as seeds, nuts, beans, dried grasses, etc.
I think this would be an awesome short term project/club but for the fact that I love arts and crafts but I am no good at it. If I had one or two adults out there who are familiar with this (or are quick studies and crafty), I think we could have a fun workshop leading to State Fair entry. There are plenty of other Fair entry opportunities, but this one caught my eye, so if you think you might be interested, let's talk!

UPDATE! We're still on the lookout for a place to meet next week. We're investigating the local library branch as well as possibly over in Sandy Run but nothing definitive yet. Feel free to reach out here or shoot me an IM or an email at [email protected]

Alright Lexington County 4-H! We've got another 4-H Homeschool Club in the making down in the Swansea area! Again, we're going to have an informational / organizational meeting on Thursday, August 27th at 10am to gage interest and see how you'd like to proceed as this is a member driven kind of thing. We're also looking for a place to meet for this initial get together and eventually for the regular club gatherings so keep that in mind.
We have a club leader who has lead a club while living in NY but we'll also be looking for other parents who would like to get involved and help with the running of the club - all to be discussed at this initial meeting.
As always, reach out with questions and concerns. I'm not going to do an Eventbrite for this one, but as we get closer I will be asking for some form of RSVP so we've got an idea of participation.

Today is the last day to register for this project y'all! If you think you might be interested or have just been putting off registering, do it! Do it now! They are having a kickoff event over in Camden on the 29th but if you can't make it to that, I will be receiving your materials at our next Agents meeting in September so I will have it here at the office for you to pickup. Questions are always welcome :)

🦌 **GROWING OUR LEGACY β€” 2026 SC 4-H Wildlife Food Plot Project**
**Registration ends FRIDAY**
Deer season's coming, and there's still time to get your family signed up to grow a food plot the right way β€” with a plan, the right seed, and a little know-how behind it.
This year's project is built around three things: improving wildlife habitat, supporting local wildlife populations, and putting our kids in the driver's seat as the next generation of wildlife stewards.
We're kicking off the season on **Saturday, August 29th** at the **Interlaken Wildlife Center in Camden**. Come out for seed and materials distribution, door prizes, and hands-on stations covering camera trap setup, pelts/skulls/tracks, and exclusion fencing β€” plus a trailer tour of established food plots so you can see what a well-managed plot actually looks like before you put seed in the ground.
A big thanks to **Southland Wildlife Seed**, a division of Mixon Seed, and the **South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR)** for sponsoring this year's project. They are helping our kids get quality seed in the ground, and this year’s project winners will receive lifetime hunting & fishing licenses!
πŸ“… Registration deadline: **August 21, 2026**
πŸ“ Kickoff: **August 29, 2026 β€” Interlaken Wildlife Center, Camden, SC**

It's getting to be that time of year again! September 1st will be here before you know it and with it comes the beginning of the new program year for us here at Lexington County 4-H. During September we typically have "interest" or "informational" type meetings for new friends who want to learn what a particular club is about and possibly join - try before you buy even. This post is focused on the Lexington County 4-H Horse Club. This will also be for past members to come in and see what Molly has in store for y'all this coming year, I'll be there to answer any 4-H related questions as well.
