Bluegrass Entertainment Design Academy

Bluegrass Entertainment Design Academy An upstart grassroots educational entity for instruction in the Entertainment Design field. No Fede

This was posted by me on August 6th 2015 to the Friends of BEDA Facebook group. "An open Facebook group that supports promoting an Entertainment Design Program in Kentucky. First off we hope to highlight Designing 4 Film page and John DeCuir as an instructor/adviser. This area will allow a more in depth exploration of Film Art Direction/Production Design and eventually expand into the broader discussion/exploration of Entertainment Design. The goal is to grow this online venue to physical meetings, talks, workshops and even an entire curriculum at a post secondary level. The ultimate goal: to see an Entertainment Design program added to one of our local college/university programs." There was very little response to move this initiate forward, so I have unilaterally, decided to just start BEDA myself.

Today marks the 106th birthday of film designer and architect John DeCuir Sr. He designed over 50 films, received eleven Academy Award nominations, and won three Oscars for his production design work. His influence on the art and architecture of cinema is significant as he paved the way for film set design to mature into narrative world-building production design. We encourage you to follow this link to enjoy a small selection of his impressive body of work.
