We enjoyed a wonderful visit to Bluegrass PACE Care today! Bluegrass PACE Care is a service of Bluegrass Care Navigators.
We learned about their innovative model of care and met several of their happy participants. We shared what we do here at BCB, and we found a few people who could benefit from our services. We all enjoyed a delicious lunch made on site in their PACE kitchen, and we toured their beautiful facility.
A special thank you to Sandy and Dorisene for being such terrific hosts! We'll look forward to seeing some of their participants going forward, and we'll let them know if some of our participants could benefit from their services.

Bluegrass Council of the Blind was honored to visit Danville yesterday at A Gathering Place - Danville-Boyle County for our second Assistive Technology Seminar, made possible through the generous support of the Hudson-Ellis Fund at Blue Grass Community Foundation.
We were thrilled to connect with community members eager to learn practical ways to maintain independence at home. We started this seminar with human guide technique training, skillfully demonstrated by Theresa and Sam. During the seminar, participants also explored hands-on demonstrations of assistive tools and shared their real-life challenges and solutions for living safely with vision loss. They each chose the devices they thought would most help them at home.
We were happy to be joined by Bill from Radio Eye, and our participants enjoyed learning about the terrific services they provide throughout Kentucky. Radio Eye broadcasts the reading of current news, public service, and general interest programming to people who are blind and print-disabled, with the vision of producing quality programming designed to help their listening audience lead enriched, productive, and independent lives.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, asked thoughtful questions, and helped make the event such a success! Weโre grateful for the opportunity to bring resources directly into the community and look forward to continuing this work across the region.

One Button, A Big Difference!
We are excited to share that automatic door openers have now been installed at our building, thanks to accessibility improvements championed by Bluegrass Council of the Blind!
Through funding provided by the City of Lexington, Ky - Government and the cooperation of our landlord, this upgrade will benefit all who visit or work in our shared building. Home to several other organizations, including the Down Syndrome Association of Central Kentucky (DSACK) and the Central Kentucky Apartment Association, this is truly an improvement for our entire community.
While many of the people we serve are blind or visually impaired, accessibility often benefits far more people than we realize. Automatic doors make it easier for people using wheelchairs, walkers, or guide dogs, and they're also helpful for anyone carrying boxes, moving furniture, or juggling coffee and a laptop on their way to work.
With the push of a button, the door opens automatically, creating a more welcoming and accessible space for all!
We're grateful to the City of Lexington for investing in accessibility and to our landlord, Switzer Development, for making this improvement possible. Small changes can open big doors, and this one will make a difference for years to come!
We also want to thank Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council, Mayor Linda Gorton, Lexington's 10th District - Councilmember Dave Sevigny, and Access Lexington!
