🎨🐦 Our Mandala Birdhouse Gourd Class Was a Huge Success! 🐦🎨
What a fun and creative day! Participants had a wonderful time choosing from a beautiful selection of colors and transforming gourds into unique birdhouse creations.
Each student painted two gourds—one to take home and enjoy in their own garden, and one to donate for our October 3 Plant Sale!
A special thank you to our instructor, Jimmy Speas, for sharing his expertise, guidance, and enthusiasm throughout the class.
We can’t wait to see these colorful birdhouse gourds brighten gardens throughout our community!

More photos and information from our Books in Bloom event!
Our Books in Bloom event was a huge success, welcoming 81 visitors—not including our amazing Master Gardener volunteers and talented authors!
One guest shared:
“Set in a beautiful flower garden, Books in Bloom began with children’s activities including scavenger hunts, coloring and craft tables. There were also tents housing NC children’s book authors. Everyone enjoyed talking to the authors and purchasing their works. Info on pollinators, sale of succulents and books for foster children were also available. The finish was an ice cream truck from Buddy Scoops. What a wonderful way to spend an hour or two on a Saturday morning!”
Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, and helped make this event so special. We loved bringing together books, blooms, and our community for a memorable morning!

What a beautiful day it was Saturday and what a pleasure it was to meet childrens' book authors and share stories of our love for reading and gardening. It is so important to have a book in your hand to love and treasure forever when you are a child (and adult); therefore we were thrilled to invite Books For Birthdays, Inc. to be with us to talk about their mission to provide a NEW book to children in foster care in several local counties through their outreach to social workers who provide them with names of children and their favorite book or topic for a book. The books are procured and delivered to the child for their birthday. Remember your favorite book? Go sit in a garden and read a good book! Pure delight!
