Athens-Chilesburg Elementary Athens School was originally a two-room school in Lexington located at 6270 Athens-Walnut Hill Road.
In 1912, a four-room building was constructed to house grades first-twelfth. In 1927, a new high school was constructed across the street and the other building was used for elementary students. An addition was built onto the high school in 1967. The following year the high school was converted to an elementary school and the original four-room structure was torn down. What a fantastic night at Athens-Chilesburg Elementary!
Our hearts are full after welcoming so many new and returning Eagle families to Open House! There was so much excitement in the air as students found their classrooms, met their teachers, reunited with friends, and got a glimpse of all that’s in store for this school year.
A huge thank you to our incredible staff for the time, care, and dedication they put into making the evening so special, and thank you to our amazing families for being there. Your partnership means the world to us.
Now the countdown is officially on… just a few more days until we fill these halls with smiling faces once again! We can’t wait to welcome all of our Eagles back on August 12 for what is sure to be an unforgettable school year.

What an AMAZING year it has been at ACE! 💙💛
Today we celebrated our final day of school, cheered on our incredible 5th graders during their promotion ceremony, and watched them take their final walk through the halls as ACE students. It was a day filled with smiles, hugs, happy tears, and so many special memories.
To our 5th graders: thank you for your leadership, kindness, and the impact you’ve made on our school. We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see all the great things you’ll accomplish in middle school and beyond.
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for making this school year one to remember. Have a safe, fun, and well-deserved summer!
