Last but not least, your reigning SCBDA 3A Bronze medalists…. the Gilbert Bands!! Mr Stewart and his students have been hard at work on this year’s show and we wish them all the best!

Welcome back to Lexington One, Mr Funderburk!!

We are delighted to officially announce our new Associate Director of Bands for the Lexington High School Cat Band, Mr.Glen Funderburk.

Welcome to our Cat Band family!

Mr. Glen Funderburk, is extremely excited to begin his first year as the Associate Band Director here at Lexington High School. 

Mr. Funderburk received his Bachelor of Music Education from Lander University and has been teaching in South Carolina for twenty-six years. 

Before coming to Lexington High School, Mr. Funderburk was the Band Director at Batesburg-Leesville Middle School (2018 - 2026),  the Band Director at Meadow Glen Middle School (2012 – 2018), the Director of Bands at Blythewood High School (2006 – 2012) and the Director of Bands at Blythewood Middle School (2000 – 2006). 

Ensembles under Mr. Funderburk's direction have consistently received Superior Ratings at local, state, and national music festivals while also being selected for feature performances such as the South Carolina Music Educators Associations In-Service Conference (2006, 2009, and 2016). His professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education; the South Carolina Band Directors Association; and Phi Beta Mu International School Bandmasters Fraternity. Mr. Funderburk has also been fortunate enough to receive the National Band Association’s Citation of Excellence on three occasions.

Mr. Funderburk presently lives in West Columbia, South Carolina with his wife Christy and their daughter Ella.

Our 2026 tour continues at White Knoll High School Timberwolf Band. These young people are preparing a fabulous show that is going to blow everyone away this year. Best of luck to the students and directors.

Yesterday, students from all 5 Lexington One high schools attended our first ever choral leadership clinic. In addition to some great singing, they learned about communication, leadership and responsibility. Big thanks to Mr Arcovio, Ms High, Dr Stephenson, Ms Swire-Clarke and Ms Wilcox for making this happen.
