Fayette County Public Schools has been nominated for the prestigious National Esports School District of the Year in the 2025 PlayVS Awards!

This national recognition highlights the outstanding growth and impact of our Esports programs. Fayette County is competing against impressive districts from Texas, Georgia, New Mexico, and Florida.

Our district's strengths are clear:

Thriving Programs: Schools like Lafayette, with over 30 student participants and top-ranked teams across multiple in Esports titles, exemplify the quality of the coaches within our district.

State Leadership: At one point, an incredible three of our high schools ranked in the top 25 for Super Smash Bros in Kentucky, showcasing the depth of talent within FCPS.

EPIC Growth: Our groundbreaking EPIC Esports program has expanded Esports opportunities to an impressive 24 elementary and 6 middle schools, fostering early engagement and skill development.

Commitment to Equity: FCPS has prioritized equitable access by ensuring all students can participate through reliable high-speed internet at their schools, securing funding for gaming equipment from local community sponsors, and removing barriers to entry.

Our team showed up strong at today’s STLP State Competition. Our EPIC Esports program and ran Mario Kart time trials and a playground for over 1,000 students across Kentucky. Our team also ran the AI On-Demand Challenge. Proud of all our student competitors, coaches and coordinators.
