🍎 Central Elementary’s Very First STEAM Day was a Huge Success!🍏
Today, our pre-K through 5th-grade students stepped into the shoes of scientists, artists, and engineers for our inaugural STEAM Day! STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics—and today, we brought all of these subjects to life with a very special, seasonal theme: 🍎Apples!🍏
Our young learners spent the day exploring, creating, and problem-solving through hands-on activities, including:
* 🏗️ Apple Stacking Challenges:*Testing engineering skills and balance to build the tallest towers.
* 🎨 *Apple Art Projects:* Exploring creativity through colorful, themed artwork.
* ⛵ *Limited-Supply Apple Boats:* Putting design and buoyancy to the test with minimal materials.
* 🧺 *Basket Building:*Designing sturdy containers to hold our favorite fall fruit.
* 🔬 *Oxidation Experiments:*Diving into chemistry to see why apples turn brown and how to stop it.
*🍎 * Applesauce Making:* Students worked together to make applesauce. 
* 🔢 *Apple Counting & Math
Engaging our youngest learners in fun, interactive counting games.
*🍂 *Scarecrow Making: Students used a variety of materials to construct scarecrows. 
* 🌳 *Learning from an Arborist:*
Hearing directly from a tree expert about how apples grow and thrive!
