This week in chapel, we worshipped together and our own Bekah Sankey reminded us that as we seek to Mirror the Light of Jesus, “When others strategize, Jesus surrenders.” Bekah highlighted that we often try to figure out solutions, numb ourselves, or fight back when faced with past, present, or future pain; however, instead of doing these things, Jesus surrenders to the will of the Father (Matthew 26:36–44) and chooses to be faithful even when it hurts. After we all reflected through journaling how we might be strategizing against, numbing, or fighting pain in our own lives, Bekah closed with this encouraging reminder: “I believe that the God of Heaven would like to strengthen each of us in our places of pain today. His beautiful blood that He poured out in this surrender makes it possible for us to surrender to the Father and to be comforted by the Holy Spirit.”
