Students for Education Reform-University of Kentucky

Hey everyone! We will be having our first SFER meeting of 2016 tonight in Whitehall, room 213, at 6 pm. Everyone is welcome! Hope to see you there!

Student For Education Reform will be having our 2nd General Body Meeting November 6th from 5-6 in the Student Center Rm. 113. ALL MAJORS ARE WELCOMED to come out and learn more about how YOU can REFORM EDUCATION ! Come out and be educated !

Hey SFER members Karen Li, a recruiter for the Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR), will be at University of Kentucky next Wednesday, October 29th. MTR is a teacher training program addressing the civil rights and social justice issues of urban education.

MTR offers a yearlong residency program that prepares teachers for careers in urban education. Residents complete a Master's in Urban Education, as well as an internship with a highly effective teacher in an urban classroom. MTR provides tuition for the degree, housing, and a living stipend. MTR graduates commit to teaching three consecutive years in a Memphis high-need school.

MTR also offers a paid summer internship for college students to work at an academic enrichment camp for students in low-income neighborhoods in Memphis. Applicants for both programs do not need an education background. Our website is a great resource for additional information (www.MemphisTR.org).

One of our E-board members was given the opportunity to attend this years SFER Summit in Minneapolis and had a great experience. She will be sharing her experience at our next general body meeting and will also be giving new ideas on how to make UK SFER a success. Updates on when the next meeting will be will be posted as soon as possible. Hope to see some new faces!!

SFER will be having a meeting on Thursday October 2nd at 5pm in the Student Center Rm 231 WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU THERE ! There will be snacks and important information. If you are interested in changing Education this is an organization you would want to be a a part of! COME CHECK US OUT !

We will be having a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, November 13th at 5:30 with FREE FOOD in the Alumni Galleria room of W***y T. We will be opening up leadership positions to new members and will have an interactive activity on charter schools. Hope to see you there!
