University of Kentucky Pre-Vet Club (UKPVC)

The University of Kentucky Pre-Vet Club consists of 75-100 members and meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm. These monthly meetings center around a guest speaker, which is often a local area veterinarian but may also be practice managers, interns, veterinary students, and PhD's. The club invites guest speakers from many different aspects of the veterinary industry which exposes our memb

Hello all! Our meeting is TONIGHT!! It will be in Seay Auditorium at 7pm. We will have a Q&A with the officer team about anything regarding classes or vet school, so come prepared with questions! Also, please bring dues if you have no paid them. Only CASH OR CHECK. It will be $25 for the year or $15 for a single semester. This will ensure you can participate in future trips and events. We can’t wait to see you there!!

Hello all! It’s time for our first meeting of the semester! The meeting will be held TOMORROW at 7pm. You can come a few minutes early to grab some pizza before we head into the auditorium! Please plan to bring club dues to this meeting! It will be $25 for the year or $15 for a single semester! We will have a short introduction to the club and then hear from a guest speaker. We can’t wait to see you there!

The time has come for officer elections 🥳
Our March meeting is THIS Wednesday 3/10 from 6-8pm. We need you all to be present for voting to go smoothly, so read over the list of candidates that we emailed out and come ready to hear a few words from each candidate before we vote. 🤗

In the second hour, we’ll be hearing from a veterinary pathologist at the UK diagnostic lab. Bring any and all questions!

The second half of the meeting will be TRIVIA!! Come hang out and relieve some stress for a chance to win a suture kit (1st place) or a $10 Starbucks gift card (2nd-4th places). Can’t wait to see your smiling faces! 🤠

Club meeting this Wednesday, Oct. 14th at 7 pm on zoom!! Dr. Kenton Morgan, an equine veterinarian who works for Zoetis will be speaking. He will be sharing a lot about the equine industry, his journey to becoming a vet, etc.

Additionally, we'll be having an info session with one of Missouri's vet school recruiters, Douglass Tindall, on Wed. October 28th (not the 21st, as mentioned in our previous email). We'll learn a lot of information in regards to vet school admissions, so you're going to want to tune in- even if you're not interested in attending Missouri. This should take place at 7 pm, though the time may change due to the time difference- we will alert you all as soon as we know, so just keep an eye on your inbox for the time update and zoom link!
Don't forget about the photo scavenger hunt happening now through Nov. 1st for a chance to get into the fall spirit and win some prizes! See our last post for instructions. He’ll be sharing about his career, what it means to be a specialist, and how to best prepare for vet school. You don’t want to miss it!

IMPORTANT UPDATES: We’ve made the choice to meet online rather than in person after reviewing university guidelines regarding club meetings. We’d love to hang out with you all in person, but zoom will have to do for now so we all can be happy and healthy! **This means the Red River Gorge outing that was scheduled for Sept 5th is cancelled.** Our club meetings will be on zoom on the second Wednesday of each month. Our suture lab went great on Friday! Thanks to everyone who came out and a huge thank you to Dr. R at Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists and Animal Emergency for leading this lab and always supporting our club! We are so grateful for you!
