We ❤️Cashew, our hard-working farm dog.
We created Barn Dog Bites with the hard working dog in mind! But these hard working dogs come in all shapes and sizes. The most common are from the following breed groups:
🐶 Working Group - developed to assist humans doing tasks like pulling carts, guarding farms, and providing protection. Common working group breeds include: Rottweilers, Mastiffs, and Great Pyrenees.
🐶 Hound Group - the hunting dogs bred to chase and track prey. Have you ever been fox hunting? If so you know that hound dogs are some of the most popular dogs around a horse farm! Common breeds: Bloodhound, Beagle, and Foxhound.
🐶 Sporting Group - another group of hunting dog! Think Labradors, Pointers, Retrievers, and Spaniels. Those Springer Spaniels sure were popular at Land Rover KY 3 Day Event this year!
🐶 Terrier Group - Terriers were bred to pursue vermin. These feisty dogs act as the extermination team on many farms. Breeds include: Jack Russel, Bull Terrier, and Rat Terrier.
🐶 Herding Group - this group seems the most obvious. Bred to move livestock, herding dogs are the quintessential . Border Collies, German Shepherds, and Corgis are typical herding breeds we see around the barn!
Of course many dog lovers find breeds from the Toy and Non Sporting groups offer the perfect pint sized companionship they’re looking for! Chihuahuas and French Bulldogs often dominate large show grounds. And undeniably, the all American mutt dog is a great choice of .
