Families will be notified of their child's class placement via email/Parent Square from your child's teacher on July 31st!

Bittersweet news for our Stonewall family! 💙 After an incredible 22 years at Stonewall Elementary—and a phenomenal 32 years of service in our district—our beloved counselor, Veronica Covington, is officially retiring! 🎉

Mrs. Covington has brought so much heart to our school, guiding countless students, supporting our families, and always offering a listening ear and a warm smile. It is truly hard to imagine Stonewall without her, but we are so incredibly grateful for the decades of love, wisdom, and dedication she has poured into our community.

Please join us in thanking Mrs. Covington for her legendary career and wishing her the happiest, most well-deserved retirement! ✨She's looking forward to spending time with her husband, sons, and grandson!

We spent the last 3 days of the school year soaking up our final moments and memories with our Stallions. From our Good-Faith- Effort Foam party to 5th grade promotion, Field Day with some awesome volunteers and community partners, and our final 5th grade walk, we wrapped up a magical and joy-filled school year with the most amazing kids. Thank you to our families for sharing your students with us each and every day and for your continued support! We will miss our Stallions, but we hope everyone has a great summer!

What. A. MONTH! We’ve loved every minute with our students and watching them learn, overcome challenges, demonstrate leadership at school and in the community, and grow as thinkers and citizens!

Calling all Stonewall SENIORS!!! We can't wait to see our former Stallions at our Senior Walk on May 29th!

Seniors can plan to arrive at 1:15, with our walk beginning at 1:30 pm!

✨APRIL HIGHLIGHTS ✨

Spring has been off to a BUSY start, and our Stallions and staff were hard at work! Highlights included:

✏️Showing BIG growth on MAP and I-Ready Assessments in Reading AND Math! We are so proud of our students' progress and growth mindsets!

🐕Strut Your Mutt where our 4th graders and their awesome teachers raised money for the Humane Society!

🐎1st Grade Derby was a truly FUN run for the roses with some tough competition and some amazing derby horse creations!

🎶 An AMAZING Stonewall Singers Broadway Review performance that showcased the incredible talents of our students, as well as the incredible Ms. Holmes (Music Teacher) and Ms. Dolen (3rd Grade Teacher)!

📝 Kindergarten Signing Night where we got to meet our newest soon-to-be Stallions!

🎨ARTRAGEOUS Arts Night organized by our incredible Art Teacher, Mrs. Scolf! There were so many fun activities and performances for everyone to enjoy (and a super cool visit from the UK Dance Team!)

As we head into our final month of the school year, we can't wait to see all of the learning, growth, and FUN our Stallions and staff have in store! Thank you to our incredible families for supporting all that we do!

Our Stallions had a MEMORABLE March, and we celebrated with a big House Celebration Today! Shout out to our incredible staff for making it so fun with our very own Stonewall Masked Singer! 🎤🎵

From Chorus concerts to field trips, Science Night to our 3rd grade Iditarod Unit, Dance Blue and a 5th Grade Dance too- our Stallions had another month of meaningful learning, community service, and core school memories. 💙🫶

👑 BIG NEWS: Celebrating Our Kindergarten Dream Team! 👑

We have some extra special news to share today! It’s time to announce our 2026 Employees of the Year, and this year, the honors are in the Kindergarten hallway!

🍎 Teacher of the Year: Haley Peurach
Kindergarten Teacher

If you’ve ever walked by her classroom, you know Ms. Peurach is basically kindergaten magic! 👸✨ Beyond her kindness, patience, and grace, she has a magical way of making every student feel seen and loved. From late-night lesson planning, to coordinating learning and celebrations for the Isibindi house, to going the extra mile for EVERY single child, she truly defines what it means to go above and beyond. Ms. Peurach isn't just teaching ABCs; she is building the confidence and joy that our students will carry with them for a lifetime. She provides the most incredible foundation for our Kindergarten students, and we are the luckiest to have her at Stonewall!

💫 Support Staff Member of the Year: Jennifer Morton
Kindergarten Paraeducator

Every great kingdom needs a hero, and Mrs. Morton is one of ours! As a paraeducator, she is the definition of "heart." She is incredibly sweet, thoughtful, and one of the hardest workers we know. Whether she’s providing extra 1-on-1 support or anticipating a need before it even arises, she makes our school better just by being in it. Ms. Morton also started her journey at Stonewall first as a parent, and now is an integral part of our Stonewall Staff. She models daily what humility and positivity at work should look like for all of us! We are so fortunate to have her supporting our students and Kindergarten teachers!

✨OH WHAT A NIGHT✨

We celebrated Stonewall DANCE BLUE tonight, and we had a BLAST! Our incredible Stallions, staff, and families raised $7,240.36 for the UK Dance Blue Clinic, which provides treatment and care for children with pediatric cancer.

This year’s Dance Blue was extra special, as we had the privilege of hearing from one of our very own Stonewall families who was impacted by Dance Blue. The Hopper family shared their story of their time at the Dance Blue clinic, and we got to celebrate their amazing daughter and kindergartener, Charlotte.

We are so proud of our Altruismo house for their servant leadership and our amazing Stonewall students for supporting a cause that is so special to our Lexington community. 💙💛🫶
