Chuck was a terrific colleague and supporter of the Choir. His and the Lafayette Band’s influence on Lafayette Choir runs deep.

💙🤍❤️In Memoriam: Mr. Charles M. "Chuck" Smith❤️🤍💙

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our former Lafayette High School Director of Bands, Mr. Charles M. (Chuck) Smith.

Mr. Smith served as Director of Bands at Lafayette High School from 1996 to 2021. During his time as "Guardian" of the Pride of The Bluegrass, he achieved so many accomplishments for our program.

Here are just a few:

🏆2002 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
🏆2013 Rose Parade
🏆2014 John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield
🏆17 First Place KMEA State Marching Band Championships
🏆2004 Bands of America Grand Nationals Finalist
🏆2-Time Bands of America Grand National Semi-Finalist
🏆3 Bands of America Regional Championships

Please keep the Smith family in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.🎺🥁🎶
