🌟 BCTC Adult Education Alumni Spotlight: Congratulations to Sam! 🎓🌟

Sam's educational journey began at BCTC in our Adult Education Workplace English Language Development (WELD) classes, and we are thrilled to celebrate his latest accomplishment—earning his Associate in Arts degree with a major in Political Science!

Through hard work, determination, and perseverance, Sam has reached an incredible milestone. His journey doesn't stop here, though! Next, he will continue his education at the University of Kentucky as he works toward earning his bachelor's degree.

🎓 What an amazing evening at our GED Graduation this past Thursday! We celebrated more graduates this year than ever before, and we could not be prouder of each and every one of them!

A huge thank you to our staff and faculty, student families, and friends who came out to support and celebrate this incredible accomplishment. Your encouragement and support mean so much to our students as they continue their journey toward success.

🎓✨ Fayette County Student Spotlight and Graduation Reminder✨🎓

Please join us in congratulating Claudia from Lexington on earning her GED! 👏

Claudia (42 years old) is originally from Guatemala. Claudia has spent years balancing full-time work at a horse farm, raising her 13-year-old son as a single mother, and pursuing her education. Despite having to balance long work hours, heavy traffic, exhaustion, and moments when she felt like giving up, Claudia stayed determined to achieve her goal.

When she first enrolled with BCTC Adult Ed, it had been 25 years since she was last in school. Math became one of her biggest challenges. With the support and patience of her instructor, Steven Bartley, along with her own dedication to studying every night at home, Claudia passed all four GED subjects in just five months.

Claudia says:

“No matter your age, if you set your mind to it, you will achieve your goals. You are never too old to pursue your dreams.”

Claudia hopes to continue her education and explore healthcare programs at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. She is also proud to use the English skills she taught herself to help coworkers and supervisors by translating at work.

We are so proud of Claudia’s perseverance, strength, and commitment to building a better future for herself and her son. Congratulations, Claudia! 🎉💙

Taylor enrolled on January 30 and earned her GED by March 19—all while working part-time at Walmart and caring for her little boy. Talk about determination!

Next, she’s planning to get her driver’s license and pursue massage school. We’re so proud of you, Taylor, and excited for what’s ahead! 💙

Thanks to GED Mobile Testing from the Kentucky Office of Adult Education, testing is coming TO YOU at our Adult Education sites in Lexington and Georgetown — making it easier than ever to succeed!

💡 What this means:
✔️ Test closer to home or your classroom
✔️ More flexible scheduling
✔️ Study with your instructor right before your test
✔️ Less stress, less travel!

Our GED Mobile Testing schedule offers convenient evening test times—designed with your busy life in mind. Plus, we allow up to 20 minutes for you to travel from work to the Adult Education center while other students are getting checked in for their tests.
For Georgetown residents and others, you may not have to travel to the Newtown North campus in Lexington anymore — testing could happen much closer to home!

Anyone with a passing GED Ready score in the English or Spanish language, even if you aren't already a student of ours (pre-registration required)
