The A Ca****la Workshop is back for Summer 2025 🎉

This year, the 'Shop is offering the weeks of June 23, August 4, August 11, and August 18 in Lexington! Students will dive into the world of a ca****la through large group performances while exploring musicality, vocal technique, music theory, and more! The workshop is perfect for students with some singing experience, especially those hoping to audition for a ca****la at Lexington High School or beyond, but welcoming to anyone who loves to sing 🎤

Last, but certainly not least is Soren James!

Soren is a rising freshman pursuing a double degree at Harvard University and Berklee College of Music. At LHS, Soren was a part of two all tenor/bass a ca****la groups: Pitchpipes for his first two years and Rock Paper Scissors for his final two. While performing with RPS at the Wyvern Invitational A Ca****la Festival, he won best male soloist! Soren sang in Concert Choir his first year and the Madrigal Singers for the rest of high school. He was part of Singing Valentines for all four years. He also performed in many theater productions at LHS. Soren was a student and TA at the ‘Shop and is super excited to be teaching this summer!

Our next astounding teacher is Shuntavi Schuman-Olivier!

Shuntavi is a rising junior at Lexington High School. She is so excited to work at the shop as the wonderful staff and TAs greatly inspired her when she attended as an incoming 9th grader. Now, in high school, she has found a lot of joy singing with her acapella group, Noteworthy as well as one of LHS’s honors choir, Chamber Singers. Joining as a teacher this year she hopes to create a space where everyone feels they can share their voice, make mistakes and most importantly, have fun!

Our next teacher is the wonderful Vivian Kerr!

Vivian is a rising freshman at Northeastern University, where she will be studying heath science on a pre-med track. While at LHS, she was a leader and arranger for the all-treble a ca****la group Guacamole, was a member of Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, and participated in the LHS musicals and Singing Valentines program. As a previous student and returning teacher of the shop, Vivian is jumping with joy over the thought of getting to see all of you beautiful people and share her love for a ca****la!

Our ninth teacher is the man himself: Arjun Kumar!

Arjun is a rising senior at LHS and a leader/arranger for Peanut Butter & Jelly, one of LHS’ Mixed Voice A Ca****la groups. He has been a member of Repertoire Orchestra and Concert Choir and will be joining the Madrigal Singers next year. He’s also a member of Singing Valentines! Arjun was a student and TA at the shop and is hyped to return as a teacher this year!!
