In Children's House Art, students have been exploring primary and secondary colors, along with tints and shades, using tempera paint.

This week is our final week working with tempera, and the children are learning how to mix a variety of skin tones using different combinations of colors. They experimented with mixing their own skin tones and even painted small samples on their skin to see how closely their creations matched. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to explore color mixing while celebrating the beautiful variety of skin tones we see in our community!

A little quiet time in the woods. 🌲 Silent observation, followed by 20 minutes of nature journaling - just noticing, wondering, putting it on paper, and sharing it with a friend.

Is there anything better than a fall field trip in New England? 🍎🍂 Apple picking, hayrides, a pumpkin patch, farm animals, and lots of fun with elementary school friends. Just a perfect fall day!

A little Buddy Class adventure! 🌿💜

This morning, one of our Children’s House classrooms headed out on a nature walk with their Buddy Class in Upper Elementary. Together, they hiked to the A-Frame, enjoyed snack, and spent time exploring and connecting across ages.

This is one of the beautiful things about a Montessori multi-age community: everyone has something to give and something to learn. Older students have opportunities to practice independence, responsibility, confidence, and leadership as they care for and guide younger children. Younger students benefit from having older role models to look up to, learn from, and build relationships with.

And really, what a treat it is to watch these relationships grow. 💚🌱

🌎 What a day! Despite the nor’easter, Culture Fest brought our community together to celebrate 25+ countries, share traditions, and connect with one another. Thank you to everyone who made this special day possible!

🕊️✨ This morning, our entire school community came together for a special assembly to celebrate the International Day of Peace! We shared thoughtful reflections on what peace means to us and filled our campus with uplifting songs. Peace isn't just about a single day; it's built through our everyday actions, kindness, and understanding for one another.

Another edition of “Artifacts from Recent History.” ✨

Music teacher Rich recently introduced our Upper Elementary students to a piece of technology that may as well have come from an archaeological dig: a cassette tape and cassette player. 📼

A little music history, a little hands-on learning, and a reminder that what feels like “recent history” to some of us is already ancient history to the next generation.
