Job Title: Head Butcher Manager
Location: Critchfield Meats Wholesale
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Position Overview:
Critchfield Meats Wholesale is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Butcher Manager to lead our meat processing and packing operations. The ideal candidate will oversee daily production, ensure quality standards are met, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment. This role requires hands-on expertise in butchering, equipment operation, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and manage daily meat cutting, processing, and packing operations.

Operate, monitor, and maintain equipment used in meat processing.

Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines.

Train, lead, and support staff to maintain high productivity and quality standards.

Inspect products for consistency, accuracy, and customer specifications.

Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times.

Collaborate with management to meet production goals and improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

Prior experience as a butcher, meat cutter, or in meat processing (management experience preferred).

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Strong work ethic and leadership skills.

Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) and stand for extended periods of time.

Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling of meat products.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Warehouse Worker – Full Time

Pay: $18–$22/hour (based on experience)

Shifts Available:

• First Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Third Shift: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM

Critchfield Meats Wholesale, a family-owned business serving Kentucky since 1969, is seeking dependable and hard-working individuals to join our warehouse team. This is a full-time position based at our Lexington facility.

Key Responsibilities:
• Load and unload delivery trucks efficiently and safely
• Manage inventory and ensure accurate stock organization
• Work in temperature-controlled environments, including freezers and coolers
• Regularly lift and move cases weighing between 40 and 60 pounds
Requirements:
• Prior warehouse experience is required
• Ability to work in cold environments for extended periods
• Must be able to lift heavy objects safely and consistently
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team

RIP Vince Welnick, gone 19 years ago today. When Grateful Dead keyboardist Brent Mydland died of a drug overdose on July 26, 1990, the band began auditioning players to replace him. Welnick was selected, not least for his high vocal range for backup harmonies. Welnick’s first show with the Grateful Dead was on September 7, 1990, at the Richfield Coliseum in Richfield, Ohio. His Associated Press obituary mentioned he was so nervous at his first gig with the band that he could barely play, until the fans put him at ease.
