We are honored to share Ph.D. student Abraham Tetteh Teye’s award-winning poem, 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨.

A doctoral student in our Ph.D. program, Teye earned second place in the 2026 National Poetry Contest for Social Workers. His poem was also published by The New Social Worker as part of its National Poetry Month feature.

Through powerful and reflective storytelling, Presaging captures the emotional weight of a client session in ways many social workers, counselors and helping professionals will immediately recognize.
𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 reminds us that social workers are not only practitioners and researchers, but also witnesses to people during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

Rapid Response Research Pilot Grant

The Sustainable Futures Design Lab (SFDL), through TRUST Hub at UK Innovate, is accepting applications for the 2026 Rapid Response Research Pilot Grant program.

The program will support community-engaged research projects focused on developing practical, collaborative solutions that directly impact rural communities across Kentucky.

Awards of up to $10,000 are available to help accelerate early-stage ideas, partnerships and translational research efforts.

Application deadline: June 1, 2026.

Rapid Response Research Pilot Grant | UK Research This funding opportunity is designed to support community-engaged, co-created solutions that address emergent environmental health challenges, especially those related to natural disasters, extreme weather events or innovative approaches to community resiliency.
