Even after 35 yrs. & 100's of students, I still love to begin a 7 yr. old on Old Macdonald or a 77 yr. old on Amazing Grace. Music touches my heart & soul, and I hope to instill that in you or your children as well. I teach traditional, not Suzuki, but have transitioned them into regular note-reading. I use classical as my core base, but then can branch into pop, jazz, ragtime, etc. Anything is possible after a classical foundation. I include music theory not in the abstract but as it applies to a piece, which creates better understanding and learning, retention & memory. I've had students playing at their churches & have invited them to mine (Good Shepherd Lutheran) and as organist there for over 25 yrs can facilitate many public try-out-your-piece-and-learn-to-relax. Playing in public is the scariest thing, and solo piano is not at all like playing in an ensemble, band or school orchestra. I have yearly public recitals in the spring, and my psychology degree helps gets the kids ready, as well as maintain some semblance of my sanity! My studio is the entire lower floor of my home, in a safe & quiet cul-de-sac with ample parking, separate entrance, restroom & waiting room. Parents can relax and hear/see their child's lesson, close the waiting room door and be with their other children, or even drop them off and zip into Kroger, which is literally right around the corner! My rate is $22 per half-hr; weekly lessons. I teach 30, 45, and hour lessons ($33/44) depending on age and level. I guarentee this rate to never change. I follow Fayette school as to holidays and breaks, and like to continue some lessons in the summer, as you & I are available. My wife will say "too wordy!" but I like to put it all "on the table" so there is no confusion, and I have nothing to hide. So, if you're interested, and would like to meet me (& my wonderful & loving cat) maybe I'll be the right piano teacher for you!
