High Street Neighborhood Center Partnering with families to offer a wide variety of learning experiences through age appropriate act

High Street Neighborhood Center is a full day childcare center. In 1969 two woman's groups ( Calvary Baptist Church and 1st United Methodist Church) got together to create a center to serve the low-income and at-risk children living in downtown and Irishtown communities. At that time we picked the children up, feed them, educated them, bathed them and sometimes clothed them. In the later years High Street decided that they should serve all of the community not just low income, downtown children. We strive to continue our mission to provide quality and affordable childcare, but to all families. With our great location we attract University employees and student, downtown employees and anyone in the bluegrass region. We believe that diversity is the key and when you visit High Street, you will notice that we are DIVERSE from socioeconomic levels to international students. The only thing that has remained consistent is our relationship with both churches. They both still make it possible for our goal for quality and affordability to exist through monthly subsidies.
