Jessie Clark Middle School Band

We had a great time this week with our students at the Lafayette Middle School Band Camp! The bands sounded awesome on the concert after only 3.5 days of rehearsals! Each day included performances from the faculty brass quintet, woodwind trio, and the Lafayette drum line. And most importantly, we had a lot of fun!

Congratulations to our incredible Percussion Ensemble students on being selected to perform at the 2027 KMEA Conference this coming February in Louisville!

If you haven't done so already, today is the last day to register for Middle School Band Camp! There is still time and room for your child/student to be a part of this amazing experience.

Home Camp meets Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. The camp experience includes a mix of full band rehearsals, sectionals, and guest recitals. Doors open for students at 8:30 AM. There is no camp on Wednesday due to a required district-wide professional development for teachers.

Camp meets Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. The camp experience includes a mix of full band rehearsals, sectionals, and guest recitals. Doors open for students at 8:30 AM. There is no camp on Wednesday due to a required district-wide professional development for teachers.

Families are invited to our end-of-camp concert at 2:00 PM on Friday in the Lafayette High School Gymnasium.

Middle School Band Camp is open to students entering 5th-8th grade with at least one year of experience on their band instrument.

The camp registration fee is $80.
Registration includes lunch each day and a camp t-shirt.

Our Symphonic Band and Concert Band received recognition from the American School Band Directors Association for their performances at the KMEA Assessment in March. The Band of Highest Distinction is given to bands that received the highest possible rating in every category from every judge!

Congratulations to all of the bands for incredible performances at our spring concerts this evening! The concerts included a little bit of everything: a swinging jazz band, Lava Chicken (Chicken Jockey!), the elder wand, an Avengers gauntlet, and Stranger Things. It was a fun night with our awesome students!

Dress for concerts is all black. All black includes black shoes and socks, as described in the band handbook.

Friday: All bands students should wear their band t-shirt (stranger things logo) for pictures. These pictures are for the yearbook and will also be displayed in the school hallway near the cafeteria.
