We are so excited to have Mrs. Cox join the Southmont Family!

Please join me in welcoming our new Assistant Principal, Whitney Cox, to our Southmont family!

Mrs. Cox was raised in Davidson County and had the privilege of attending Davidson County Schools throughout her entire K-12 education. After graduating from DCS in 2004, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Greensboro in 2008 and a Master of School Administration degree from Appalachian State University in 2025. She received her National Board Certification in 2017. With 18 years of experience in education, she has served as a second grade teacher, fourth grade teacher, and Instructional Coach in Thomasville City Schools and Davidson County Schools.

She has been married to her husband, Brad, for 16 years. They have three children, ages 5, 7, and 12. Her hobbies include spending time with family, traveling, attending Carolina Panther games, and working outside in her yard.

She is excited and honored to join the Southmont team as Assistant Principal! She looks forward to building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families while supporting a positive and successful learning environment.
