Congratulations to one of our talented visual art teachers!

Please join us in sending a massive congratulations to our amazing LEX VAPA Arts Teacher, Mr. Jaramillo-Jones (aka Mr. JJ)! Yesterday at the national conference for the Institute for Arts Integration and STEAM, Mr. JJ received the prestigious 2026 Distinguished Specialist Award! He was one of only FOUR educators in the nation to be recognized, which also gave our LEX MS scholars the incredible opportunity to have their work showcased nationwide.

We all know Mr. JJ is way too humble to brag about himself, so we’re going to do it for him! He is so deserving of this honor, and we are incredibly lucky to have him on our team. Help us celebrate him in the comments below!

Thank you to everyone who worked to make our Districtwide production of Seussical a such a soaring success! From student intensive participants to special guests and volunteers, a tremendous amount of time and effort went into making this a memorable experience for everyone involved. We would like to give a special shout out to MSI Production Services for generously lending sound equipment as well as Dawn Brockman of ATR Photos (who also served as our costume designer) for her great photography of our performances.

Check it out! Some local talent, including Uniting Voices’s Dr. Michael Preacely and LexArts’s Kay’mon Murrah are performing in LALOVAVI. If you’ve never tried opera before, either of these two shows are a great place to start, and for FREE!

UPDATE: JULY 6, 2026
As of this morning, all tickets have been claimed. If you submitted a request, you'll receive a confirmation this week if you requested tickets for LALOVAVI or next week if you requested tickets for CARMEN.

**If you missed this opportunity, remember that students are still eligible for $16 tickets the week of the show - up to 2 tickets per student with valid ID.

🎉Big news! Thanks to a generous donor, a limited number of FREE tickets to select Cincinnati Opera performances are available for students in grades 7-12 (and recent graduates).

The fine print: Up to two tickets per eligible student (maximum of four per household) will be available for select performances of either LALOVAVI or CARMEN. Some restrictions apply.
