2026 Kentucky State Team Chess Championship!!! K-1 3rd place, K-3 2nd place, K-5 tied for 2nd place!!!
What an unbelievable day for our Trailblazing Chess Squadron!!! This crew has worked tirelessly throughout the season to grow and improve…and the puzzles and extra practices paid off today. Our 6th seeded K-3 team finished 2nd…our 7th seeded K-5 team tied for second and our 2 K-1 travelers finished 3rd. It has been such a joy to coach this group and I am so incredibly proud of the journey and growth they have shown this season. It was also so special to bring out the old Rosa Parks chess banner (Thank you always Walsh family). The “El Fuego” Jerseys were also spectacular (Thank you Opening Day Apparel!). Lastly….thank you so much to our amazing village of parents who weathered a LONG day to support our Chess Squadron. We cannot do this without you!

Big start to the 2025-2026 chess season for the Rosa Parks Trailblazing Chess Squadron! If traffic was slow coming west on I-64 from Louisville today…the culprit may have for once not been construction but instead the glare from all the trophy hardware riding back from the Louisville Halloween Chess Tournament. K-1 took 1st overall and K-3 took 2nd marking the first regular season team tournament wins for RPE in five years! In K-1 Bindi Green was 2nd overall, Oakley Watts finished 5th, Eland Watts finished 6th and Sylvie Sama finished 7th to round out the scoring for the K-1 squadron. In K-3 Bodhi Green took home third place overall and was supported by Sonny Woodall, Winston Watts, and Wesley Allison as the other top four scorers. In K-5 Eddie Sama took home 11th place in a loaded K-5 field. We are so proud of how our crew kicked off the season!!!
