‘I am a UK Innovator’: CHS’ Michaela Keener:
Innovation is a new way of thinking that can often lead to transformative breakthroughs. Research Communications partnered with UK Innovate to spotlight faculty innovators with pioneering ideas at the University of Kentucky. UK Innovate works collaboratively with innovators to strategically assess, protect and license early-stage technologies and co-create new technology startups.
In the final Q&A of the series, Michaela Keener, Ph.D., discusses her work in developing an interactive digital health system designed to enhance access to care for equestrians. Keener is an assistant professor of athletic training and clinical nutrition in the UK College of Health Sciences. She has received research funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation, National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and University of Cincinnati.

SMRI researchers to study Air Force health demands with $3.4M grant.
A researcher from the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences Sports Medicine Research Institute (SMRI) was awarded a $3.4 million grant from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to study the health demands of special tactics to support airmen and create a plan to reduce their risk of job-related injuries.

Jeremy Ross, M.Ed., CSCS, CPSS will be presenting “Kinetic and Kinematic Aspects of the Vertical Jump Related to Overreaching: A Systematic Review” at the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s National Conference in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday, July 15th at 9:45 AM in room Milano I-II. The presentation will cover the use of vertical jump screening and discuss practical outcomes coaches can use to identify chronic neuromuscular fatigue in athletes.

Hoch Inducted into AT Academy in National Academies in Practice
