Office Closure Notice

The Sheets Memorial Christian School office and main school campus will be closed on Thursday, July 30th, and Friday, July 31st, due to a scheduled campus event.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to serving you when the office reopens on Monday, August 3rd at 8am.

Some journeys come full circle, and we’re thrilled to welcome Mrs. Devon Derrow back to the Sheets Memorial Christian School family as our new 1st Grade Teacher!

Mrs. Derrow has a passion for helping young learners grow and loves spending her free time reading, gardening, and staying active through running, strength training, and her favorite—boxing! 🥊 She also enjoys being outdoors, attending sporting events, cheering on the Tar Heels, Charlotte FC, and the Carolina Panthers, but her favorite role is being a proud boy mom and cheering on her sons from the sidelines.

We are excited to welcome Mrs. Derrow back to Sheets and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll have on our first graders this year.

Mrs. Kortney Ho**er is joining our Kinder Kampus team, where she will be serving as our Eagle’s Nest Teacher!

A blessed mom of two, Mrs. Kortney brings a heart for children and families, along with 10 years of running her own daycare and four years of serving as a Children’s Sunday School teacher. She loves baking, spontaneous trips to the mountains or the beach, and is always up for a girls’ shopping or spa day. She and her husband have been married for almost 12 years.

We are so thankful the Lord has brought Mrs. Kortney to SMCS and know she will be a wonderful addition to our Eagle family. Please help us give her a warm welcome in the comments! 🦅💙

As we prepare our hearts for a new school year, we invite every student, parent, grandparent, alumni, church member, and friend of SMCS to join us for 30 Days of Prayer beginning July 20.

Each day we’ll focus on one specific prayer as we ask God to move in our school, our families, our staff, and our community. Together, let’s dedicate this school year to the One who has called us to serve.

Please help us give a BIG Eagle welcome to Mr. Matt Barnes! 🦅

We are excited to welcome Mr. Barnes to the Sheets Memorial Christian School family as our new Upper School Math Teacher!

He brings 23 years of industry experience applying advanced mathematics to complex systems in the health software field. A North Carolina State University graduate with a B.S. in Technology Education, he has also faithfully served as a worship musician and Sunday School teacher at Tyro Methodist Church for more than a decade and coached women’s tennis at West Davidson High School for seven years.

Mr. Barnes is no stranger to the Eagle family. He and his wife, Heather, have been married for 23 years and are proud parents to Sophie, Shepherd, and Phoebe.

We are thankful the Lord has brought Mr. Barnes to our faculty and can’t wait to see the impact he’ll have on our students this year. We can’t wait to have him on campus… and we’re looking forward to seeing how long it takes before someone says, “Wait… which Mr. Barnes?” 😂🦅

🎓 Alumni Spotlight! ✨

We’re proud to recognize Dr. Lena V. Xhelili, PharmD, a 2020 graduate of Sheets Memorial Christian School!

This past May, Lena earned her Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Medicine from High Point University. She has also successfully passed her licensing exam and will begin her residency with the Salisbury VA Health Care System as a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident.

Congratulations, Dr. Lena! We are incredibly proud of your hard work and accomplishments. We pray that God continues to guide you and use your gifts for His glory as you begin this exciting new chapter. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle! 🦅💙
