It was a great Day 2 of the 2026-2027 school year! Here are our Spartan teachers who all worked so hard behind the scenes getting ready for the first week of school!

We had a great first day! Our Spartans are curious…..”Why are their shoes in the Library? And boxes with question marks?”

First Day, here we come!! Ready for students at SMS! Thank you Lawn Letter Kreations for the great welcoming sign!!

Great turnout for our “Spartan Open House” tonight! So many families showed up to participate and we loved seeing all of our students’ smiling faces!! One more day and we’ll welcome them back!!

The first day of school is just around the corner, and we need your help to make Southern Middle School look its very best! Join the PTSA for a Landscaping Refresh Volunteer Day as we spruce up our campus for students and staff.

📍 Southern Middle School

We'll be:
🌼 Planting beautiful flowers generously donated by Home Depot (Harrodsburg Road)
🌿 Spreading fresh mulch
💙 Working together to create a welcoming environment for our students, teachers, and families

Whether you can stay for 30 minutes or the full two hours, every helping hand makes a difference! This is a wonderful opportunity for students, families, staff, and community members to work side-by-side and show our Spartan pride.

Hello Southern Middle School Students and Families!

🏃 Ready to Run? Whether you’re an experienced runner or trying cross country for the first time, we’d love to have you join the Southern Middle School Cross Country Team!

Optional Summer Training
📅 August 4th, 5th, & 6th
🕓 4:15 to 5:00 p.m.
📍 Southern Middle School

These optional workouts are a great opportunity to meet teammates, build endurance, and get a head start on the season. If you can’t attend, that’s okay! We encourage you to get in a safe run on your own, stay hydrated, and be mindful of the summer heat.

Before the season begins, please make sure you have:
✅ A current KHSAA sports physical on file
✅ A water bottle
✅ Running shoes

Cross country welcomes students of all ability levels. If you’re willing to work hard, support your teammates, and challenge yourself, there’s a place for you on our team!
